Thinker according to ancient Greeks, PhD student according to modern world.

Graduated in Biotechnology (B.Sc., cum laude) in 2013 and in Plant and Animal Biotechnology (M.Sc., cum laude) in 2015 at University of Udine, I published the theoretical aspects of my Bachelor's thesis as a review. For my Master's thesis I worked on Hi-C a cutting edge technology to understand 3D DNA interaction with broad downstream applications; part of the thesis was carried out at IPK (Gatersleben, DE) contributing to a Nature publication about the genome of barley. 
In parallel with University, I was also a student of Scuola Superiore dell'Università degli Studi di Udine (https://scuolasuperiore.uniud.it/) an institute of excellence for highly talented students. Students at the Scuola Superiore had to obtain an outstanding GPA (at least an average of 90%), follow extra courses and produce two small thesis per year. This gave me the possibility to study and publish the first ever reported comparative review about base excision repair (BER) in Archaea. Additionally the School was providing a full board and lodging scholarship. 
During University, I have also been an elected member of the Faculty council and later I had a full mandate as elected student member of the Academic Senate (University Council). I have also represented the Scuola Superiore within the network of Italian Excellence Institutes contributing to the formation of the actual Association comprising all students of such institutes.
Since 2015 I am a Marie Curie fellow within the ITN Protein factory, and a PhD student at UMCG (Groninen University, NL) and DSM Food Specialties B.V. (Delft, NL).
